Only the simple and current operations listed below can be performed by non-professionals. Entrust all other jobs to a professional.
The following are some of the operations you can carry out yourself. If needed, ask our appliance maintenance provider to guide you through the motions over the phone.

You can't start your heater:
Check the natural gas taps are open at the entrance to your building, and at the arrival at your heater.
Check the heater's power supply.
Check the pressure in the manometer. If needed, add water to build the pressure back up to between 1 and 2 bars.
If all this fails, cut the gas supply to the heater and contact the technician in charge of maintaining it.
There are water flowing noises in the pipes, and the radiators are colder than normal at the top:
Stop the circulation pump.
Open the bleed valve lids slightly (you will typically find them on top of the radiators) and close them again as soon as water starts coming out.
Do the same with the high part of the circuit (pipes typically running along the ceiling or concealed in the false ceiling).
Independently of whether your radiators make a noise or not, bleed the installation once a year.
Administraiting your heating installation:
When the outside temperature changes and you need to turn the heating up or down, set it for the temperature you want in the living room;
All heaters have Aquastats.
Indeed, if your installation doesn't have a comfort thermostat, timer or sensor, the only way to set it is using the Aquastat.
In general, the lower the outside temperature, the higher your Aquastat needs to be.
If your installation is fitted with a comfort thermostat:
Make your life easier by sparing you the need to adjust the aquastat every time the outdoor temperature changes.
Make your life more comfortable.
It keeps the temperature stable throughout your home.
You can also use it lower the heating during the night, and while your are out in the daytime.

Ways of saving money:
Don't waste hot water, or use it too often.
Keep your radiators clean; dust blocks heat (if you use convectors, clean the fins inside the cover).
Never dry your clothes on the radiator; this hampers their efficiency.
When you can turn the heating down (even in the thick of winter):
When you're out during the day
When you leave for the weekend
At night, avoid leaving the window too wide open, and close the shutters or draw the curtains
During the warmer days.
